A single potted plant for every 100 square feet is recommended by the Plants for Clean Air Council (PCAC). The PCAC is continuing the work NASA began utilizing plants as natural air filters, led by former NASA researcher Dr. Bill Wolverton. Plants, NASA determined, will remove as much as 87% of indoor air pollutants within 24 hours. Plants clean the air naturally by taking pollutants in through their roots, leaves and the bacteria that live on them, converting these substances into food. This process is called photosynthesis, absorbing carbon dioxide and producing the oxygen WE need. Clean and filtered naturally oxygen!
One medium to large plant will take care of a 10’x10’ space.
Nature's Reflection will come to your location and provide a free consultation. During this visit we will discuss your thoughts and vision for your space. How the space is used, its future use, light levels, budgets, accessibility and more are important factors to understand at the outset. Light levels are the major determining factor in which plant materials will work for your spaces. We also have several container products to choose from, so that your plants will also have stylish elements to finish the look of your space. After the initial consultation a proposal is drawn up and sent to you. The proposal will include pricing for each item, delivery and installation information, service pricing and what is covered in the plant service. Once you have your investment onsite, protect it with professional, courteous and knowledgeable service to those plants. Maintenance is on a predetermined schedule. Maintenance includes but not necessarily limited to; watering, fertilizing, pruning, rotation, cleaning, and mossing as needed. Replacements are done, as needed, if plants decline due to our care. We also offer blooming plant rotation. Orchids and Bromeliads are commonly used for this application.
Plants are not just accessories for your environments; they are essential elements to health and wellbeing. Roger Ulrich, PhD from Texas A&M determined that having plants where hospital patients could see them or be in spaces where there were several plants, resulted in faster post-surgical recovery times. Some studies have also found consistent results with heart patients. Ulrich also showed that blood pressure and muscle tension is reduced in as little as 6 minutes. This relaxation helps patients heal faster. Imagine how the ever stressful medical staff reacts to the same plant filled environment!
There is also the general consensus that plants can assist employers in lowering the number of sick days, stress levels and increase productivity of employees. Employees often feel appreciated and are, in turn, happier in their jobs due to the presence of live plant materials. One floor sized plant should clean the air for a 10’x10’ space.
When choosing plants as part of your living or working spaces, you not only have the aesthetic benefits of green lush living things, but you also gain those healthful benefits that plants provide. Even the color green has been proven to have a calming effect on people. The first impression your clients, patients or guests will have will be that of a more relaxed and welcoming space. Consider a space lacking plant life. It feels sterile and cold. One with plants has the opposite impression. Which would you rather portray? People have a less positive impression of a space in the absence of plants. People visiting your space will not feel at ease, and generally will not want to linger long. Bring live plants into your life and you will bring life into your spaces.
